Recognising Their Potential

Psychological Testing and Assessment Services

Holistic Healing and Integrated Rehabilitation

At Aakanksha Therapy Center, our mission is to empower every individual, whether a child facing developmental challenges or an adult in need of rehabilitation, to achieve optimal physical, emotional and cognitive well-being. By combining the rigour of evidence-based practices with an empathetic, case-centred approach, we create tailored therapy programs that nurture the mind, body and spirit.

At our centre, we understand that a comprehensive understanding of an individual's cognitive, emotional and behavioural functioning is the cornerstone of effective intervention. Our psychological testing services employ a diverse battery of standardised assessments, administered by our highly trained professionals using evidence-based practices. These assessments help us to develop personalised treatment plans that support each beneficiary's unique needs, whether you are a child with developmental challenges or an adult seeking rehabilitation.

Our Comprehensive Testing Suite

Each assessment tool we use is carefully chosen to provide deep insights into various aspects of functioning. Below is an overview of the key tests we offer:

1. Cognitive & Memory Assessments

  • DST (Digit Span Test):
  • This test measures working memory and attention by requiring individuals to recall sequences of numbers in both forward and reverse order. It is instrumental in assessing cognitive capacity and is frequently utilised in evaluating conditions such as ADHD and other attention-related challenges.
  • BKT (Bhatia's Battery of Performance Tests):
  • This battery evaluates a range of cognitive and perceptual skills. It offers a detailed insight into intellectual functioning and is essential for identifying specific cognitive strengths and areas that may need targeted intervention.
  • GDT (Good enough Draw-a-Man Test):
  • A projective assessment that involves drawing a human figure, the GDT is used to estimate intellectual maturity in children. It provides valuable information on visuospatial skills and overall cognitive development.

2. Social and Adaptive Functioning

  • VSMS (Vineland Social Maturity Scale):
  • The VSMS assesses social competence and adaptive behaviour across multiple domains such as self-care, communication and social interaction. This scale is particularly useful in gauging the social maturity of children, especially those with developmental disorders.
  • SFB:
  • This structured assessment tool evaluates social behaviour and functional patterns, helping to pinpoint both strengths and areas requiring improvement. It is essential in designing interventions that enhance social skills and adaptive functioning.
  • Children's Personality Assessment:
  • Through a comprehensive evaluation of emotional stability, behaviour and social interactions, this assessment helps us understand a child's personality profile. The insights gained are critical for tailoring interventions that nurture positive behavioural and emotional development.

3. Disorder-Specific Evaluations

  • Specific Learning Disability (SLD) Assessment:
  • This assessment identifies difficulties in areas such as reading, writing and arithmetic. By accurately diagnosing specific learning disabilities, we can design individualised educational interventions that address these challenges and promote academic success.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment:
  • Employing standardised diagnostic tools, our ASD assessment evaluates the range and severity of symptoms associated with autism. Early identification and diagnosis facilitate timely interventions and specialised therapy programs that cater to each child's needs.
  • ADHD Assessment:
  • Utilising a combination of behavioural rating scales, structured interviews and observations, our ADHD assessment helps in diagnosing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This evaluation is crucial for implementing targeted strategies that improve focus, behaviour and overall functioning. and
  • AIIMS Neuropsychological Battery-Children:
  • Developed by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, this comprehensive battery assesses neuropsychological functions including attention, memory, language and executive functions. It is especially valuable for diagnosing neuro-developmental disorders and planning targeted interventions for children.

4. Vocational and Functional Readiness

  • Vocational Readiness Checklist:
  • This tool evaluates an individual's preparedness for vocational training and employment. It focuses on work behaviour, decision-making skills and practical abilities, providing a roadmap for developing the skills necessary for a successful transition to work.

The Benefits of Our Psychological Testing

  • Individualised Insights:
  • Every assessment is tailored to capture the unique cognitive, social and emotional profile of the individual, ensuring that our interventions are as targeted and effective as possible.
  • Evidence-Based Practices:
  • Our testing protocols are grounded in the latest research and our clinicians are continually updating their skills to incorporate new methodologies and tools.
  • Collaborative Approach:
  • Results from these assessments are integrated into a multidisciplinary treatment plan. This collaborative process ensures that every aspect of the beneficiary's functioning is addressed holistically.
  • Early Identification & Intervention:
  • Early and accurate diagnosis through our comprehensive testing battery enables prompt intervention, which is critical for long-term success, especially in developmental and neuropsychological disorders.
